UPLOADED 27 DECEMBER, 2023

The "PLUG IN │ Editorial Grand Prix," now a fixture of the joint trade show PLUG IN │ Editorial, selects the exhibitor that left the strongest impression on visitors. At the October show, first place went to the collaborative booth by "Parc·un" (Curious Design), "Millina" (Mizuno Millinery), and "Dishy" (Ogitsu), while the "Special Award" went to San Ceramic. The newly introduced "E-Salon Award" went to "Journey & Jersey" (Kanemasa Meriyasu). All were ambitious proposals that went beyond the ordinary.

Grand Prix: A Three-Way Collaboration by "Parc·un," "Millina," and "Dishy"
Following its Grand Prix win at the previous March show, this made it two wins in a row. This time "Dishy" joined in, expanding the proposal into a three-company collaboration.
Their shared aim: "building the commerce of the future" and "creating products and experiences that can't be had digitally." Under the theme of "a real space built around fashion," Curious Design — which runs stores and also handles planning work — directed and produced the booth as a whole. To cross the divide between categories, they imagined the booth as a single store, presenting a unified look through fashion. Within that, each company revisited its own planning, merchandising, visual messaging, and staging with the shared goal of "building a new kind of sales floor." Having found, through this show, that "the direction is clear and the core is set," they plan to keep bringing in more partners going forward.

Special Award: San Ceramic
San Ceramic, a ceramics processing manufacturer in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture — known for the 400-year-old Hasami-yaki pottery tradition — unveiled colorful, eco-friendly ceramic coffee filters.
A new product from a company whose mission is "making things that keep water and air clean," the filter addresses how paper filters absorb some of the coffee's flavor and aroma, while the porous ceramic instead lets that flavor and aroma stand out, for a smoother taste. Dripping takes no extra effort, and because the filter can be reused indefinitely, it's economical too. Cutting down on discarded paper filters also makes it kinder to the environment.
Beyond six colors — blue, yellow, brown, pink, and black, among others — the lineup also includes a Mt. Fuji design aimed at inbound and overseas export markets. The company put real effort into tastings to emphasize the hands-on experience, and the easy-to-understand booth staging also contributed to its strong reception. Priced at ¥3,500 and ¥5,450 for a single-drip filter.

E-Salon Award: "Journey & Jersey" (Kanemasa Meriyasu)
An original brand from a long-established Wakayama knitting mill founded in 1964, whose operations originally ran entirely on hanging knitting machines. The brand concept is "clothes that set you free." Since around 2010, the company has invested in equipment specialized for custom-order high-gauge knitting with an eye on the future. Launching this brand was part of that push, and the company has a track record that includes exhibiting at a Paris trade show and developing wholesale partners in six countries overseas. As a leading company in high-gauge knitting, it's working to expand its B2B reach across industries and categories, both in fabric and finished product, by leveraging its technical and manufacturing strength.
